 Diversity exists in the groups and organisations where people have a wide range of backgrounds, styles, views, values and beliefs and the like. Researchers focusing on this issue have pointed out that diversity can be divided into four layers. It can be expressed as personality, internal dimensions, external dimensions and organisational dimensions, where personality refers to the personal characteristics; internal dimensions include age, gender, nationality, etc.; external dimensions stand for income, personal habits, appearance, etc. and organisational dimensions mean research interests, types of employment, work content and the like. Individuals with various backgrounds working in the same organisations lead to the workplace diversity and variety.

Managing diversity refers to the process through which the organisations recruit, train and manage in a planned way taking into consideration of different personalities of the employees in this system. Or use the definition of the “managing diversity” approaches which has been presented by Kandola and Fullerton (1994) decades ago in the UK context. The managing diversity includes visible and non-visible differences such as gender, generation, background, personality and so forth. And it is obvous that these differences will help to establish a productive organization and every individual feels valued and respected. In this way their potentials are being fully reached and organisational achievements are accomplished.
